Dire Straits Experience enthrall Gurgaon with tunes of the 80s, as they play for a cause

It was a riveting and memorable night last weekendat Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29, as Dire Straits Experience strummed the strings and magically transported adoring fans to the era of musical genius that was evident in the 1980s and 90s. It was the time when vocalist guitarist Mark Knopfler and his British rock band Dire Straits had acquired cult status and commanded the love and admiration of millions of fans across the globe. Knopfler fans must have certainly missed him in Gurgaon last weekend, but there was still plenty in store for the night, as Dire Straits Experience included Dire Straits’ original members Chris White (sax, flute, percussion, vocals) and Chris Whitten (drums) supported in the lead by Terence Reis (Lead Vocals and Guitar).
The opening track of the concert was 'telegraph road' from the album ‘Love over Gold’ by Dire Straits, released in 1982. There were many among the crowd who had grown up listening to this track, and now hearing it live was an altogether new experience, something that brought back pleasant memories of the past. As the concert progressed, the connect between the band and the crowd grew stronger, as thousands of swaying fans joined vocalist Terence Reis and the rest of the band to sing several songs together. The tempo had started to build and halfway into the performance, it was time to bring out the best of Dire Straits, which included popular tracks from the album ‘Brothers in Arms’. It became evident what the crowd loved most when the track ‘Walk of Life’ was played, which is probably one of the most popular tracks in the album. It was during this time that the decibel levels among the cheering, singing fans appeared to be getting forever louder. Other tracks from the album were also played and there was a solo performanceas well by Chris White on the saxophone, which really captivated the crowd.

Just when it seemed that the concert has ended, as band members started taking a bow, there were passionate, energetic shouts from the crowd for "one more" "one more". The band obliged and came up with the showstopper of the concert 'Money for Nothing', the iconic track by Dire Straits. The track attracted loud cheers from the crowd and band members repeated specific segments in a loop for the ultimate delight of delirious fans. Reis thanked the crowd at the end of the concert and said that they will be back for more. The next concert will be in Bengaluru.
The live performance by Dire Straits Experience in Gurgaon will be remembered, as it was the British band's first stage gig in the country. Great music has always been the hallmark of the band and this performance was even special since it will support an important social cause. Aptly named 'Play for a Cause', the concert, sponsored by 100 Pipers, seeks to provide sustainable drinking water to villagers in the State of Rajasthan. It was great to see the power of music being utilized to transform lives and make a difference to society.
Even the band members were excited about this new journey, where they can harness their musical prowess, not just to entertain, but also to make a tangible difference in the lives of people who struggle every day for even the most basic of human needs. The Play for a Cause initiative by 100 Pipers has been working with more than 400 leading artists and has been instrumental in providing support to various social causes. This time, with Dire Straits Experience, the plan is to provide better quality of water for drinking, sanitation, irrigation and livestock in villages in Rajasthan. A part of the proceeds generated from ticket sales will be used to launch the social project.

Garage Inc Restaurant Review

Garage Inc located at the happening place of South Delhi - Hauz Khas. This is a great place to hangout with friends. I was invited here along with my fellow food bloggers to try out their new addition in the menu which you can find below.

The concept of this place was to create an exquisite destination for food offering a rustic dining experience with some great music. They have Foosball with some lipsmacking dishes. Their menu offers a wide array of scrumptious delights that offers a great option to our palette. They even have open kitchen so you can see when your order is getting prepared. The interior is totally like a garage!

What I had:

Reggae Reggae Nachos - The crisp tortilla chips with beans, veggies and cheese were great.

Penne Arrabiata- This was delicious and highly recommended.

Veggie Burger- The burger was not good and the patty was very dry.

Apple Cinnamontini - I did not like it. The cinnamon powder dominated the entire drink.

Classic Mojito-This was not all good. I could only taste sugar in this and it was not even mixed properly.

Fried Snicker Bar with ice cream - An interesting dessert to try but nothing so unique.

Nutella Banana Peanut Butter Crepe - I loved this dessert and it is highly recommended. Not too sweet and perfect for me.

Ratings: 3.5/5
Service- Good
Pocket-Friendly- Yes

Fresh milk can help eliminate your break-up blues

To find something that lasts forever, if not impossible, has certainly become quite difficult in today's fast changing world. Everything gets replaced in just a few years and most things come with an expiry date. Relationships have acquired similar characteristics, which in turn has made break-ups quite commonplace. The resulting hurt is something we are all familiar with and it’s not a good state to be in. Since the winds of change cannot be stopped, it would be prudent to deal with the problem and move on. If the problem is break-up and the associated hurt, one way you can deal with it is by taking dairy products such as fresh full cream organic milk, organic curd, cow milk products (by niryas.com) etc.
Dairy products such as fresh milk, organic curd and cow milk products contain copious amounts of B vitamins such as Vitamin B12, B6 and folate. Scientific studies conducted by researchers have shown evidence that these vitamins can be helpful in the treatment of depression. These are also useful in fighting mood swings and can be quite effective in eliminating break-up blues. If you are a vegetarian, then you should definitely include milk and milk products in your diet because it is the only vegetarian source of Vitamin B12. Apart from its mood elevating properties, Vitamin B12 also plays several other important functions, which is why milk and milk products is an absolute must for vegetarians.
The good fats and protein found in dairy products also work to enhance your mood. The brain is almost 60% fat, so it’s easy to see why fat is important for elevating your mood. This observation has also been supported by several research studies. When you are in good mood, you are likely to engage in new activities, which will help you gradually forget your past. The memory part of our brain works like a computer’s hard disc, where if you input new things, the old stuff will be automatically overwritten with the new things that you do and experience.

Remember, milk can only help you; it’s not a cure. To move on after a break-up, you need to realize that life is more important than anything else. It may take some time, and often things of the past may overwhelm you, but you need to be conscious of these things and keep trying to focus on the present. Talk to people, go on a holiday, make new goals and work on them, find a new hobby, buy something that you always wanted, and things like that. Soon, you will realize that you have left your past far behind and are starting a new journey that’s full of exciting possibilities.
